A worker stepped onto a suspended ceiling. It broke under his weight and he fell through. He landed on a concrete floor 42 feet below and died of blood loss and multiple injuries. A more safely designed workplace would have made the difference for this worker. The false ceiling and mezzanine area should have been replaced with a sturdy platform including a guard rail.
