On December 29, 1970, President Nixon signed the Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Act of 1970 into law. The act created the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), who is charged with assuring safe and healthful conditions for working men and women by setting and enforcing standards; and providing training, outreach, and education and compliance assistance.
