Marine contractor fined after worker suffers life changing injuries
A marine contractor has been fined after a worker fell six metres sustaining multiple fractures to the neck, back, ribs, and hip, plus head injuries and a collapsed lung. Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court heard how on 4 April 2017, a contractor who was working on converting a barge from a commercial vessel into a luxury houseboat, suffered life changing injuries when he fell from a ladder erected at the back of the vessel.
