This section addresses the hazards and personal protective equipment specific to hands/fingers. General Hand protection refers to PPE specific to the elbow region and below (ex, gloves, arm coverings, finger guards, etc). According to OSHA regulations, an employer is responsible for selecting and mandating the use of proper hand protection for their employees. Employers are required to assess the work area to determine potential hazards and risks of a hand injury. If a hazard is found, employers must also require hand protection.
