Forklift Safety – Blind Spots Picture This

The forklift operator’s forward view is completely blocked by an oversized load, and a pedestrian is walking directly into the forklift’s blind spot without establishing eye contact or ensuring the operator sees her. Despite the presence of a convex mirror and a warning sign, the layout and behavior create a high risk of a struck-by incident.
Forklift operators should avoid carrying loads that block their view; if unavoidable, they must drive in reverse or use a spotter. Pedestrians must stay out of the forklift’s blind zones and never assume they’ve been seen. Both parties should maintain eye contact and follow designated travel paths to avoid collisions.
